CANARA ENGINEERING COLLEGE ROAD MAP...

In an attempt to impart holistic education, to make “Canara Engineering College” a role model in higher education and the most preferred choice of students, staff, parents, society and industry in the near future; the following few proposals or action plans are projected, for 2 to 3 years down the lane:

  • In line with NEP-2020, adding new UG and PG programs in emerging and multidisciplinary areas, like Cyber Security, Data Science, IOT, Business Management, Automation & Robotics & the like is being planned. Building of strong PG & Ph.D. programs is needed for further growth towards promoting research culture in the institute, establishing Centers of Excellence or Active Research Centers and in turn, contributing to attain University status soon.
  • To promote creative power & innovative ideas of the students, to conduct or practice for in-house, inter-school or inter-collegiate innovation competitions and to facilitate total personality development of the students, developing state-of-the-art “Student Activity Centre” is proposed.
  • In compliance with phase-wise implementation of NEP 2020, to explore introduction of ‘Internationalization’ towards improving national or international visibility and accelerated, multi-dimensional growth of CEC. Possible collaboration through MOUs with foreign universities, like academic tie-ups, semester abroad study program, twinning programs, student internships, joint project works, joint research funding & publications etc. will be tried in due course.
  • Planned to possess necessary infrastructure & modern lab. facilities for quality research works, setting-up start-up incubation centres, technology development centres and seamless access to modern information resources
  • To explore ‘Academic Partnerships’ with reputed companies/organisations which enables the students and faculty to access modern learning assets as academic support at free of cost, provides for specialized training and lab assistance to the students, provides Integrated Student Personality Development Program and the like. Recently introduced ‘Professor of Practice’ scheme from UGC will be tried.
  • To tap the leading companies & R&D organizations for faculty development training, courseware redesign, campus-connect programmes and live projects on campus to bridge the workplace-campus gap. ‘Finishing school’ concept to be tried with contributing companies through distinguished alumni support.
  • To encourage participation in online education platforms like Coursera/Udemy/Udacity etc. offering open elective certified courses from reputed foreign universities; e-learning resource development like YouTube videos, national NPTEL online certification courses, SWAYAM platform MOOCs (massive online open courses) & the like.
  • Image and Brand Building Events: Planning to organize ambitious programs to highlight or promote the visibility of the institution among the general public, academia and industry professionals in the state level or national level or globally, through conduction of mega events, conferences, conclaves or summits on focused themes, like IEEE Conferences, Smart India Hackathon (SIH) Finale; IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Summits (ILS); Technology Summit with a far reaching visibility & community linkages like TEDx; Ideathons; Project expos; Technology Conclave with Gadget Expo; IEEE Summer schools for High School or PU Students; Engineering Projects in Community Service(EPICS) initiatives etc.
  • A few ‘Smart Classrooms’ with intelligent interactive panels are being developed in the institute to enhance state-of-the-art teaching pedagogy and level of modern education.
  • Finally, to set benchmarks against reputed institutes or universities around, to draw some of their best practices for enhanced visibility, sustainable market standing and higher ranking.

Canara Engineering College being a flagship institution under Canara Educational Group, has a major role to play towards becoming an Autonomous or Deemed University in the near future.
